Port Austin Watersport Rules and Regulations
You MUST be at least 18 years old to rent a PWC (Personal Water Craft)
All renters must follow all state and local marine laws. Breaking these laws may result in a fine to the boater and the loss of their deposit.
Renters are not allowed to be intoxicated on drugs or alcohol while operating the PWC.
Renters must always wear all safety gear provided (life jacket). Any additional safety gear is welcome to be worn on the PWC.
You are not allowed to text and drive on the PWC. You should be aware of your surroundings at all times.
We are not liable for any loss of personal property.
It is SLOW, NO WAKE, until out of harbor.
Renters must follow all guidelines presented in the safety briefing.
You must be at least 25 years old to rent and drive a tritoon. You must follow all state and local boating laws. You cannot operate the tritoon if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. You must wear the life jacket we provide, and you cannot text while driving. Simple rules, safe fun!
Walk-ins are welcome when availability allows. If you want a PWC rental, please call ahead and give at least 1 hour of notice. Your reservation must be on our schedule to hold your spot. We’ll let you know the next step when you book. Easy!
This document outlines the optional Damage Protection Add-On available to renters of the JC Tri-Toon operated by Port Austin Watersport Rentals INC. This add-on provides limited financial protection for accidental damage caused by the designated driver during the rental period. This add-on is not insurance.
VIEW AGREEMENT
This optional Damage Protection Add‑On provides limited financial protection to the renter in the event of accidental damage to the rented jet ski during the rental period. This add‑on reduces the renter’s financial responsibility for qualifying damage but does not eliminate it.

We accept Cash, credit/debit cards, and Venmo for payments.
Customers must have a CREDIT CARD or a DEBIT CARD that can withstand of a charge of up to $1000 in the event of serious damage caused to the machine.
Yes — please call or message us if you need to change your reservation. We do not make weather-based changes ahead of time. We check the actual conditions on the day of your rental. Weather can change fast, and many days end up nicer than the forecast. Plan for your reserved day, and we’ll help you from there. If conditions are unsafe, we do not send you out.
If you cancel within 72 hours of your reservation you will be refunded 85% of your deposit. If you cancel more than 72 hours from your reservation, you will be refunded your full deposit.
When a reservation is cancelled it will show as “cancelled” within our reservation system and a cancellation email will be sent to the customer as proof within 24 hours.
We highly recommend calling if you cancel if it is within the same day.
If you do decide to cancel it would be best to know as soon as possible.
We reserve the right to cancel your reservation for violations of our policies.
No refunds/exchanges for early returns.
What constitutes good and bad weather for water sports activities is highly subjective. The following are things the renter shall keep in mind regarding weather.
We reserve the right, solely at our discretion, to reschedule and/or cancel your reservation in the event of inclement weather.
In the event of poor weather at the time of your reservation, we can either reschedule your reservation for a different time or we can refund your deposit.
Cancellations will take place due to thunder, lightning, high winds, and/or rainstorms.
We will not cancel/make changes to your reservation until 2 hours before your rental.
It is recommended to wear water shoes/ flip flops for the duration of the rental. You may want a sweatshirt or light jacket if it is a colder day.
Jet-Skis: Generally, only air temperatures less than 65 degrees may receive consideration for cancellation for the day of.
In the event of serious damage to the jet ski caused by careless operation from the customer, there will be up to a $1500 charge. This will cover the deductible that it costs us to fix the machines and downtime up to 5 Days. Thereafter there will be a $75 per day charge for downtime.
In the event of serious damage to the Tri-Toon caused by careless operation from the customer, the operator of the Tri-Toon, or whomever is on the rental agreement is FULLY liable for damages up to $40,000
Port Austin Jet Ski will use its discretion to determine what is and what isn’t serious damage.
Damages in excess of $100 may require, at our discretion, local law enforcement notification and police report.
We do not profit from damages.
Yes. Port Austin Watersport Rentals is insured by Markel Insurance Company for you and our fleet. If you want extra peace of mind, check with your own homeowner, auto, or credit card provider to see whether you have additional coverage.
Yes! Fuel is included with all rentals. You start with a full tank, and our staff refuels the equipment before your rental begins. For weekly rentals, we also provide full gas cans and drop them off where your jet ski is located.
Please arrive 20 to 30 minutes early. That gives us time for check-in, paperwork, and your safety briefing so you can get on the water faster. Awesome!
Your rental includes the watercraft, life jackets, a safety briefing, and fuel. Nice and easy!
Yes. Every renter must complete the required paperwork before launch. It is quick, and our team will walk you through it at check-in.
Please bring a valid photo ID, your payment card, and anything you want for a fun day on the water. Towels, sunscreen, sunglasses, and dry clothes are all a great idea.
